Since 1997 I have painted in oils and pastels focusing on the “plein air” tradition of painting out doors in the landscape. Most paintings are completed in one session using California Impressionist style with rich color, loose brush strokes and emphasis on capturing the effect of light and shadow. I participate in many Art shows each year and have won many awards at juried shows over the years. Please see the Calendar for upcoming shows.

I have been a writer my whole life in that I have always written a daily journal each morning together with short stories since I was a little girl. A family tradition modeled by my English mother. My daily writing habit over so many years has now morphed into a freelance copy writing business. A natural extension of what I already enjoy doing. I am a graduate of the American Writers and Artists Copywriting program and have many business clients for whom I write promotional copy. I seem to be gravitating towards writing for the Internet – Website pages, promotional e-mails etc. I also really enjoy helping people write their own family stories. My writing Blog “Copywriter for Your Business” features samples of various promotional writing projects I have done as well as pieces of my creative writing.

I am now combining my art with my writing with my “Paint the States” quest to paint in every State in our beautiful and diverse country. I write stories to accompany each painting and have combined them in my Blog “Paint the States”. 

Personal Notes:  I was born in Malawi in Africa and lived there until I was 16. I now live in Bonny Doon, California. My husband and I also have a summer home on the coast of Maine. I go there once a year to paint and write. My lifelong love of nature and the landscape made plein air painting a natural fit for me, as well as my lifetime love of writing. Every time I go out to paint it is always worth it – no matter how my day may have started out. The painting and writing  process is what really interests and engages me. It is always fresh and wonderful.
